History and Milestones

During a history of over sixty years, JSND has been playing a leading role of applied nutrition research and its application for nutrition improvement since 1952. First general meeting of the JSND was held at 1954 in Tokyo. Precedential to the first general meeting, the first issue of the Japanese Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics was published in 1941. The journal has been published bimonthly and the latest volume is vol.76.

・1941 First issue of the Japanese Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics (published by the National Nutrition Department, Institute of Health and Welfare Research (now the National Institute of Health and Nutrition)
・1952 Nutrition Improvement (Eiyo-kaizen in Japanese) Law enacted.
・1954 Establishment of rules of the Society. Members consisted of members of the Japanese Dietetics Society and the National Nutrition Promotion Society.
・1965 Establishment of rules of the Society. Members consisted of members of the Japanese Dietetics Society and the National Nutrition Promotion Society.・1984: Registration of the academic society for election of the 13th members of the Science Council of Japan.
・1984 Registration of the academic society for election of the 13th members of the Science Council of Japan.
・1998 Start of publication of the Japanese Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics by the Japanese Society of Nutrition and Dietetics.
・2004 Establishment as a nonprofit organization (NPO)
